Intended Use:

ExcelArrest® XT is indicated for use as a topical dressing for the temporary treatment of moderate to severely bleeding wounds such as surgical wounds (post-operative, donor sites, dermatological), cuts and lacerations, and is also indicated for control of bleeding from the skin at percutaneous needle access, vascular access and percutaneous catheter access sites.

Contraindications:

ExcelArrest XT should not be used on patients with known allergies to shellfish.

Warnings:

• ExcelArrest XT is not intended as a substitute for appropriate standard of care procedures and meticulous surgical techniques.
• Sterility not guaranteed if package is damaged or opened. Discard damaged or open packages. ExcelArrest XT is a single use only device.
• If you are unable to stop the bleeding with the use of this product, use an alternate method of hemostasis treatment.
• ExcelArrest XT contains chitin from shellfish.

Precautions:

• ExcelArrest XT provides a strong barrier against bacteria, however, ExcelArrest XT is not a treatment for pre-existing infections.
• Use By Date: This device should not be used after the end of the year and month shown.
• To prevent product contamination prior to application, always follow aseptic techniques.

Instructions:

1. Tear open ExcelArrest XT pouch and remove pad.
2. Blot excess blood from the wound with gauze.
3. With backing side up, apply ExcelArrest XT pad to cover wound.
4. Apply gauze over ExcelArrest XT and press firmly for a minimum of 5 minutes.
5. With ExcelArrest XT in place, wrap and secure a bandage around wound to maintain pressure.
6. Discard any unused product after opening.
7. Once hemostasis is achieved, remove ExcelArrest XT from the wound site using sterile saline or water as needed.
